Product Information
**Systech Instruments' Model 913/923/933 RACE™ Cell Oxygen Analysers**
Part of the 900 Series of electrochemical oxygen analysers.
The RACE™ cell version of the 900 Series is designed for oxygen measurement where although the primary oxygen measurement is at the parts per million (ppm) level, the measuring system can be exposed to atmospheric levels of percentage (%) oxygen. This is often the case in applications involving user access to the process, such as wavesolder and reflow ovens. The RACE™ Sensor (USA and British patents pending) is a breakthrough in electrochemical technology. Our unique design prevents the sensor from being saturated by high levels of oxygen. With TURBOPURGE™, levels as low as 20 ppm can be reached from ambient air within 2 minutes. This sensor is unaffected by hydrocarbons or volatile atmospheres making it the ideal choice in many applications. This method also prolongs the life of the oxygen sensor, giving a three year minimum lifetime (warranted), with five years more typical.
This instrument is available as a Bench top / panel mount unit (913 version), wall mounted unit (923 version), and a rack mounted unit (933 version).

RACE Sensor/IC Manufacturing Application Note
Past methods of applying interconnects in IC (integrated circuit) manufacturing have included chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and ion implantation. A new method in the industry uses low-k, spin-on dielectrics which allows for faster interconnection delays and higher throughput. This method is thought to be better than previous methods because during the spin-on process, a more uniform layer is applied. Also, no additional equipment is needed such as polishers. Therefore, the total cost is less and the equipment has a smaller footprint where floor space in a clean room is limited.
Radiation Curing Application Note
Oxygen inhibits the reaction of radiation cured chemistries. In some cases the oxygen inhibitation is not important and thus the process can happen in air. Most chemical suppliers try to supply chemistries that will react in air.
Rapid Thermal Processing
In Rapid Thermal Processing (RTP) of semiconductors wafers, different metal compounds, such as tungsten, cobalt, platinum, aluminium or gallium, can be deposited onto the wafer by essentially baking the wafer in the presence of different gases.
Saving Nitrogen at Axis Electronics
Installing automatic control of the nitrogen atmosphere in its wave soldering plant has allowed Axis Electronics to increase productivity of assembled printed circuit boards (pcb's) and reduce gas costs in its wave soldering equipment.
Thermal Conductivity
Each gas has a known thermal conductivity, that is how well heat transfers through it.

Wave and Reflow Soldering Ovens Application Note
Wave soldering and reflow soldering ovens are designed to automatically “solder” the components on a printed circuit board (PCB). They consist of a varying number of thermal chambers where the temperature can be independently controlled depending on the type of PCB. Since oxygen causes oxidation of the solder, resulting in poor, weak connections, nitrogen is used to inert the oven’s environment prior to soldering.
